Subject: Surfacing of Palau Community College Track

Dear Mr. Driver:

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize your installation of the new all-weather, polyurethane surface at the outdoor, 400 meter, Palau Community College (PCC) Track as part of the PCC Track & Field Improvements Project.  This project has been funded by the Government of the Republic of Palau as preparation for the 1998 Micronesian Games, which Palau will hose in August 1998.  The new track & field facility will be the main venue for these Games which will be attended by 2,000 athletes from all of Micronesia.  You have installed this surface under a sub-contract to the project’s prime contractor, Monterey Mechanical Co.

I would like to recognize your assistance in helping us determine the proper materials for this project in order to meet our particular climatic conditions, which as you know include a tropical environment with frequent and heavy rainfall. 

I want to thank you for your extremely hard work on this project under very challenging conditions.  Mobilizing alone for a job such as this in the Western Pacific is a difficult task.  You have been able to meet our goal of having the PCC Track ready for Palau’s 1997 Summer Games this August, which will be a rehearsal for the Micronesian Games next year.

I am very pleased with the finished product that we now have on our track and I am confident that due to your effort and the materials you have specified that we will have a quality track for many years to come.  This project is important to the Republic of Palau not only for the major events it will hold, but also as a community facility which will be used on a daily basis by old and young alike.
