splashing even during a heavy rain.
D) Synthetic turf should be suitable to year-round climatic conditions in an outdoor environment.
E) Grass fiber will be the Thiolon.
F) The backing of the turf shall then be coated with liquid polyurethane adhesive to 26 oz per square foot. The entire system shall be resistant to weather, insects, rot, mildew, and fungus growth, and will be non-allergic and non-toxic.
G) The entire system shall be constructed for porous standards as specified.
H) The pile surface shall provide excellent traction in all types of weather with the use of conventional athletic shoes typically used at natural grass athletic sports fields. Some shoes including metal cleats may cause damage and care should be taken to prevent misuse of the turf product.
I) Pile height will finish at 2 1/8”.
J) In addition to tufted-in or inlaid lines and logos, the pile surface shall be suitable for both permanent line markings using paint will not be allowed.
K) The fabric surface will be installed in 15-foot widths.
L) All synthetic turf seams shall be glued to seaming tape.
M) The turf system infill material shall be Ambient Polymeric cured rubber and 1⁄2mm to 2mm in size.
N) The dynamic cushioning of the Turf at installation shall not exceed an average maximum value of 130g-max at 70 degrees for all rubber infill.  Over the warranty period of the project, all rubber infill shall not exceed 155 g-max.  Note: Use of sand as any part of the infill will NOT be allowed.
O) G-max test is recommended at the completion of the turf installation.
P) The entire system will be constructed to maximize dimensional stability, to resist damage and normal wear and tear from its designated use, and resistant to ultraviolet rays.
Q) All adhesive used in bonding the system together will be resistant to moisture, bacterial and fungus attacks.
R) Lines will be tufted-in place or inlaid per owner specifications.  All colors shall be manufactured with the same type fiber used in the main playing area.

Sub-base Earth

A) Remove all soils as required to obtain architects desired elevations.
B) All soils to be removed off site or as directed by owner.
C) Sub base earth should be laser graded to within 1⁄2” of sub grade elevation.  Check for soft soil lenses or other unsuitable soils which could cause settling.
D) All disturbed earth shall be compacted to a minimum of 90% ASTM with optimum moisture content +- 3% prior to installation of rock base.
E) Install Geotextile Membrane.

Aggregate Base

A) Stone base shall be per specification.  Stone base shall be laser graded and installed in lifts as needed to achieve final grades within 1⁄4”.  Aggregate Base: Stone material shall conform to specifications for 100% crushed stone and shall be “washed”, free from fines and debris.  Stone shall be angular and not rounded.  Crushed concrete, limestone fines, slag, etc. shall not be allowed.  Base stone shall be 1” washed with permeability greater than 40” per hour.  Top stone shall be 3/8” to 5/8” washed with permeability greater than 12” per hour.
B) Stone base shall be compacted to maximum ASTM +- 5% for the type of rock specified.  All rock shall be CLEAN rock allowing proper flow of moisture to the under drain system (no fines allowed).

Drainage

A) Field drains shall be Colbond Enkaturf at 12” x 1” set in a herringbone design on 20’ centers.
B) NDS perforated perimeter pipe, sizes determined by specifications. Or equal C. NDS solid connectors at termination points per drawings.
D) Aggregate base stone shall be maximum 1” drainable stone and graded to meet C-A5 requirements.  Depth of stone shall a minimum of 6” unless more is specified
by the architect.
E) Aggregate top stone shall be 3/8” to 5/8” drainable (washed) stone. Depth of stone shall be a minimum of 2” per specifications and drawings.

Installation

A) All turf installation shall be performed by experienced technicians with a minimum 10 previous installations.
B) The sub base and rock shall be tested and inspected for planarity and compaction and shall conform to the drawings and specifications.
C) All materials shall be delivered checked and inspected by project superintendent for conformance with the specifications prior to performance of work.
D) All synthetic turf seams shall be bound together by glue to seaming tape.  The adhesive bonding of all system material components shall provide a permanent, tight, secure and hazard free athletic playing surface for a minimum time of not less than the warranty period. The bonding shall be such that all the surface joints and seams shall remain intact as required throughout the duration of the warranty period.
E) Installation crew shall train the school’s personnel on all aspects of maintenance including combing fiber and minor repairs.
F) The outer edges of synthetic turf shall be fastened in such a manner as to meet or exceed the warranty period.  Glue tucked edges with the same adhesive as used to apply turf.
G) Install infill rubber to depth specified and is recommended at 3.0 to 3.3 pounds per square foot on rubber infill turf depending of the specific gravity of the rubber used.
H) Weather conditions are important.  No work under this section will proceed when: 1. Ambient air temperatures are below 35 degrees or above 105 degrees. 2. Material temperatures are below 50 degrees or above 125 degrees. 3. Surfaces are wet or damp. 4. Rain is imminent or falling. 5. Conditions exist or are imminent, which will be unsuitable to installation requirements of the systems specified herein.  Humidity levels will be inside the limits recommended by the adhesive manufacturer to obtain optimum bonding to surfaces.

Inlaid Lines, Logos, Numbers, and Letters
